Violated Affairs

Installation/Intervention |Seesaw, Swing and Slide | 2015

Violated Affairs
is an installation/Intervention investigating connected cognitive notions to particular functional objects. The project conveys various possibilities of the transformation, altering and displacement of known objects to investigate the impact of these alterations in the viewers’ perception. By positioning three primary objects from a children’s playground, outside of their conventional contexts and their perceived implications, Violated Affairs aims to set off a discourse on notions such as perception, violence, violating functionality and danger’s appeal. The installation consists of three recreational apparatus: the seesaw, swing and slide.

An abandoned former Pizzeria is rented a couple of months before its demolition from the Cologne’s City Council. The place then is transformed and manipulated into a pseudo-gallery.
